The definition of beauty as it is found in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is:
“ the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit …“
What does that mean for photography; although we can all agree on what makes a great photograph can we all agree on what makes a photograph beautiful? Author Margaret Wolfe Hungerford was the first to say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and that still rings true today. I feel thought with some exceptions. We are literally bombarded with beauty on a second by second basis so we have set an unusually high standard for beauty.
Beautiful photography to me when genuine emotion is shown, when the groom dances with him mother and tears stream down their faces, when a mother is holding her daughters hand by the seasides, when laughter comes bursting out. Those things are beautiful to me. I can have you stand and look a certain way, but if it is not real than it is not beautiful to me.
Beauty is told in the story and I would love to tell yours, if we can agree on what makes a photo beautiful than contact me so we can start planning your fairytale.
